On April 3, 2004, the information industry authorities of China, Japan and Korea held the first "China-Japan-Korea IT-DG OSS Meeting and Northeast Asia OSS Promotion Forum" in Beijing, where the "Memorandum of Understanding on Open Source Software Cooperation between the Ministry of Information Industry of China, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Ministry of Information and Communications of South Korea" was signed. Over the past decade or so, China, Japan and Korea have established a sound mechanism for information communication and technical exchange, and have made substantial progress in cooperation in open source technology and evaluation, human resource development, standardization and certification, etc. Eighteen sessions of the IT-DG OSS Meeting have been successfully held so far.
